Communism is defined as a theory which advocates a state of society in which in that respect is no private ownership, all piazza being vested in the community and labor organized for the common benefit of the population; the professed principle being that each should work according to his or her capacity, and receive according to his or her needs. Although it is true that in the olden that communist societies have infringed their citizens rights regarding freedom of speech. The association between communism and the restriction of free speech is disillusioned and often confused. This leaves Americans with a false sense of freedom. The common fancy Americans hold in regards to freedom is that it is the right to wave tiny flags and the right to jump out arms. Most Americans truly believe that under communism they impart be unable to enjoy the freedoms they currently have.
However, many of these people give little to no thought to what freedom in reality is and only that it is simply good and under communism it would surely be abolished.
Communism may have collapsed in the Soviet Union but not because it did not work, but because the Soviet Union did not follow a true communist state. They did not follow the ideals of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. There was a huge judicial separation of classes. The wealthy possess all the land and the poor owned nothing and were so impoverished they barely had enough to eat. The idea of capitalism, the poor owning land, is what lead to the demise of the USSR.
