Abstract:
Surcrose, Na2HPO4 , water, baking barm and ethyl aceto acetate rayon were fit(p) in a flask. The change was left hand for a week with a sealed mouth and thusly diatomaceous earth (Celite) was added. Ethyl-3-hydroxybutanoate. During the first week in a 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask Sucrose (0.0584 mol, 20.09 g) and Na2HPO4 (8.81x10 -4 mol, 141.95 g) was change state with 75 mL of warm water. Â To the solution 4.13 g of wry beakers yeast was added and swirled to suspend the yeast throughout the solution then 1.25 g of ethyl acetoacetate was added. On the second week 5.08 g of diatomaceouos earth (Celite) was added to the reaction and the mixture was filtrated. To the filtrate 10 mL of brine solution was added. From a 250 mL separatory funnel the filtrate was extracted three times with 75 mL of ethyl acetate and the ethyl acetate layers were unite in a clean flask.
The combined ethyl acetate layers were dried using Na2SO4 as a drying agent and filtered off. The roofy evaporation was used to remove the ethyl acetate. After rotary evaporation the final product was 1.77 (22.96%) ethyl-3-hydroxybutanoate. HNMR (CDCl3; 90 MHz): 1.26ppm (m, 6H CH); 2.49ppm (d, 1H J=6.39Hzh); 4.16ppm(m, 4H).
